Sassy And Classy Favorites of 2017!

Hello Glams!
As you all may know, this year has been such a crazy and exciting year for makeup and beauty. Between the new product launches, Youtuber collabs and the slay-worthy IG tutorials, makeup and beauty has had a year for the books! I've had the pleasure of testing, trying and toying with some of the best (and not so best) makeup and beauty products on the market so naturally I have my favorites. Here's my list of MY personal favorites of  2017.

Favorite Primer(s)
I'm an oily girl so I need a primer that can smooth my skin while keeping me matte at the same time. Makeup Forever Step 1 Mattifying Primer and Kiss New York Pro Touch Mattifying Primer definitely were big winners for me this year because they both gave my skin a really good, matte -but not overly drying, base for my makeup.

Favorite Brow Product
I'm a creature of habit when it comes to certain products and my brows are definitely one thing I don't like to really play around with. I've been using the same drugstore brow pencil for YEARS and haven't found one that really matched it in terms of performance UNTIL I got the chance to try Benefit Cosmetics Goof Proof Brow Pencil. Benefit has really stepped up their game when it comes to brow products and this pencil really outperformed other brow pencils on the market. It's really nicely pigmented and the slanted applicator makes shaping and filling in such a breeze it practically does the work for you!

Favorite Eyeshadow Palette
This year we definitely saw a TON of bomb eyeshadow palettes drop. For me, eyeshadow palettes are one of those things where you can really play around with your look and have some fun. I remember when I first got started in artistry how there were only basic matte shades and shimmer shades but now there are so many different finishes and colors to choose from. For me NYX's Ultimate Palette in Warm Neutrals was my favorite go-to palette this year. There was not one shadow in that palette that I didn't see myself using. It gave a decent amount of variety as far as colors(which would look super flattering on anyone) and the pigmentation is up there with some more high-end brands. Score!

Favorite Color Corrector
Color correcting is still a fairly new trend in the beauty world and this year I was pleasantly surprised by all the companies releasing color correctors to help disguise discoloration and make for a more even makeup application. For me, e.l.f.'s Color Corrector Stick in Orange was my go to. The stick to cream texture made blending super easy and hassle free and the pigment was just perfect-not too peachy and not too red.

Favorite Foundation
I'l be quite honest- I haven't really found a foundation that really works for me. I have yet to find a foundation that I can really ride with for more than a few months. However while I am still on the hunt for a foundation that leaves me looking flawless(and I'm open to suggestions), currently, NYX's Total Control Drop Foundation has been coming through for me lately. I love how "skin like" this foundation feels in spite of it being a full coverage foundation. It's also buildable which is a plus and leaves a satin-like matte finish.

Favorite Line of Launches
I feel like this year has HANDS DOWN been the year of Makeup Launches! It felt like everytime I went online there was someone else launching a makeup line or a new string of products! While I am definitely not mad about all the product and makeup launches, I feel like  Rihanna's Fenty Beauty and Huda Beauty really were my all time favs this year. I remember when Rihanna first made her announcement of her makeup line. I was so excited to hear another woman of color coming out with a line and anxiously awaited to see what she would come up with. Fenty Beauty has definitely surpassed my expectations and to put it plainly, Rihanna did the damn thing! Huda Kattan is someone who I personally have admired from the beginning. Seeing her journey from celeb makeup artist to a full on beauty brand is really inspiring and umm, did I mention she is the most followed beauty brand on Instagram with more than 23 mil followers!! This year I've seen Huda's brand grow so much and with each new release she's announced, my makeup wishlist got longer and longer. I love how involved and dedicated she is to making sure she puts out products that everyone will love and can use. She really listens to her customers and puts her heart into her brand and products.

Favorite Mascara
Like my brows, when it comes to mascara I tend to stick with formulas, brands and products I know will give me the voluminous, long lashes I'm looking for. When I'm not wearing falsies, you can almost certainly bet that I'm wearing my Maybelline the Falsies mascara. In terms of mascara, Maybelline is definitely the OG in the game with their infamous Great Lash mascara, so naturally, their Falsies mascara gives me the perfect amount of drama in a lash whenever I wear it.

Favorite Eyeliner
When it comes to eyeliner, I'm not really too picky. I can achieve the same wing whether it's a drugstore liner or one that's more high end. If I'm looking to draw a quick wing with no fuss and easy precise application, I'll use Stila's Stay All Day Liquid Eyeliner. Not only does this liner make application a breeze, it's SUPER pigmented, long lasting and dries really really beautifully.

Favorite Setting Powder
Like Foundation, finding the perfect setting powder for me has been a bit of a struggle. Being as how I have oily skin, finding the right powder to set my makeup and absorb excess oil has proven to be a bit of a challenge. And while I have yet to find a powder that can do both, I currently use Makeup Forever's Super Matte Loose Powder to set my face and keep oil at bay.

Favorite Highlighter
If you know me you know how much I LOVE highlighters. I am always on the hunt (or sometimes just browsing) for a highlighter that's gonna give me that sunkissed glow I love to showcase. While I definitely don't need anymore highlighters,  the Makeup Revolution Shimmer Brick and BeeqBox's F--k Boy Repellent have been giving me a glam-worthy glow fit for a Queen.

Favorite Setting Spray
As an oily girl, making sure my makeup is set properly is an aboslute MUST! To avoid having half my face run down my outfit after an hour or two I set my face with the Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray. A few mists of this and your makeup will stay put all day, all night and possibly into the next day! This spray is especially perfect if you wanna stay slay worthy and can't get to a bathroom to touch up your face.

Favorite False Lashes
The right false lash can really take your makeup up a notch(or two...or three). For me  Ardell's Soft Touch 151 Lashes  really give me just the right amount of lash without it looking too dramatic or unnatural. When you add some mascara to this lash it really gives you that pretty, feminine, voluminous look you want without being too much.

Favorite YouTuber Launch(es)
Beauty Youtubers have come such a long way the past two years and this year it brought some of our favorites some really dope company collabs. It’s my raye raye for Bh Cosmetics, Jackie Aina for Artist Couture, Jennie Jenkins for Black Up! Cosmetics, and makeup Shayla for Maybelline all came out with some really amazing products that had us all swooning.

I am so excited to see what the makeup and beauty world has in store for us. Be sure to let me know in the comments what your favorite beauty product of 2017 was and what you are looking forward to seeing in the beauty world in 2018.
